AFRAPE's Story
Founded in 2002 in Botucatu, São Paulo, AFRAPE was born from a shared belief: that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive. In a region with limited access to social programs, AFRAPE stepped in to fill the gap — creating a safe, supportive space where children, teens, and families could grow through education, culture, and community. What started as a small initiative with just 30 children has become a thriving nonprofit that transforms lives daily through music, theater, sports, robotics, professional training, and more. AFRAPE is more than a program — it’s a movement of hope, rooted in love and driven by opportunity.
The Impact
At AFRAPE, they believe that true change starts with opportunity. That’s why they provide free educational, cultural, and social programs to children and teens in Botucatu’s most underserved neighborhoods.
Through initiatives like the Som & Luz Project, students ages 6 to 14 receive academic support, learn coding and robotics, and explore music, theater, and sports in a safe, welcoming environment. For older youth, the Professional Education Program equips teens with hands-on skills in technology, entrepreneurship, and job readiness — helping them build real pathways to employment.
Their Cultural Program fosters creativity through music ensembles, theater groups, dance, and a vibrant community library. Every workshop, lesson, and rehearsal is designed to uplift, empower, and inspire — because when children have the tools to succeed, they grow into adults who uplift the world around them.

Cultural Programs
AFRAPE’s Cultural Programs nurture creativity and social inclusion through music, theater, dance, and the arts. These projects provide children, teens, and adults with opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with their community while preserving cultural heritage.
