Cultural Programs

 Espaço Cultural e Educação AFRAPE

The heart of AFRAPE’s cultural mission, this space serves as a creative hub where children, teens, and young adults explore their talents through music, visual arts, theater, dance, and digital inclusion. It’s a place of growth, discovery, and joy — building self-esteem and bridging social gaps through culture. AFRAPE is proud to partner with Criança Esperança to make this possible.

Donations help keep this space alive, covering instrument costs, instructor fees, and art supplies for all participants.

Projeto Cordas (String Ensemble)

Children and teens learn violin, viola, cello, and bass using the Suzuki method in weekly music workshops. Many students come from vulnerable backgrounds and find not only a passion for music but also a sense of community and pride.

Your support funds instruments, music books, and continued training, enabling young musicians to thrive.

Grupo de Violeiros

This project celebrates Brazil’s musical roots by teaching children, teens, and adults to play the viola caipira and perform traditional sertaneja songs. The group performs across the region, preserving cultural heritage while fostering intergenerational connection.

Help us keep this tradition alive by donating to provide instruments, costumes, and travel for performances.

Cordas Dedilhadas (Plucked Strings Group)

A group of 25 teens trained in guitar performance collaborate to play Brazilian popular music in harmony. Students learn musical roles (solo, rhythm, bass) and gain confidence through public performances.

Donations help provide quality guitars, professional instruction, and performance opportunities.

Pelicano Youth Orchestra

Formed in 2011, this orchestra includes kids ages 8–16 who’ve excelled in music workshops. They play woodwind, percussion, and melodic instruments like the flute, cajón, and xylophone, performing Brazilian folk and pop songs.

Your contribution funds instruments, repairs, and travel costs so these talented kids can continue to share their music with the world.

Brass Ensemble

With eight dedicated students playing trumpet, trombone, horn, euphonium, and tuba, this group focuses on both classical and popular Brazilian music. Students grow musically and socially through weekly rehearsals and local shows.

Donating helps maintain instruments and provide sheet music and transportation to events.

“Vozes do Amanhã” Youth Choir

A vibrant choir of 25 children and teens (ages 8–16) performs classic Brazilian songs. Weekly rehearsals build musical discipline, stage presence, and joy.

Your donation helps us offer professional voice training and performance opportunities for these young vocalists.

AFRAPE Theater Group

Formed by kids with exceptional performance talent, this group stages plays in schools about social issues like the environment and community safety. Theater becomes a tool for self-expression, empathy, and education.

Donations allow us to create sets, costumes, and expand theater access to more students.

AFRAPE Community Library

The only library in North Botucatu, it’s open 5 days a week and offers over 1,000 books, internet access, story time events, and reading initiatives like the “Book Bag” program.

Every donation helps us expand our collection, host more community events, and provide free access to learning tools.
